Automatic Form Filling With Firefox

fireform :: Firefox Add-ons

I am still surprised at the amount of people who don't know the existence of this plugin.

I am currently writing a database/program in Filemaker to keep all of my link lists in. I have expanded this until form filling software for linking campaigns but have yet to perfect the thing.

But for now, I want to get started. I want to test the linking power of submitting my site to blog directories will do. And this Firefox addon will do the job.

It's free and it beats paying for software. Firefox isn't perfect but the addon tools are awesome. If this plugin interests you, you may want to check out the iOpus iMacros addon for macro capabilities. Macros give you scripting power without the necessity of learning a complex language.

A Few Tips on using Fireform

  • You can right click in form fields on the page to choose either "Learn As" or "Fill With". The "Learn As" feature is powerful. With it you can teach Fireform to learn the selected field as a current data type or new type. Which bring us to another tip.
  • Fill in one profile, submit it to a few sites and then duplicate that profile and edit it for your other sites. This way you do not have to go through the whole learning process with each new site. Which brings us to the next tip.
  • Profiles can be exported and imported in xml format for use on other installations of Firefox. I carry mine around on my thumb drive for use on other peoples websites when I don't have my laptop. I can just import a profile, edit it, and show them how to get more links to a site or use it at work for sites I run there. And Firefox does crash and lose random stuff. I've had it happen more than once.
